Born and raised in Livingston, Montana, Zach Pleshar is the owner/operator of Westwind Guides, LLC. Zach has been a professional licensed guide and outfitter for fishermen and big game hunters for 20 years in both Montana and Alaska. His dad is a trout bum at heart (his mom’s no slouch either), so Zach grew up in and around Livingston with a fishing rod in his hand from a young age. He fished everything from puddles in the backyard to the Yellowstone River with his family, learning along the way that not every piece of water has fish in it. When he wasn’t fishing he traipsed around in the mountains with his family and local legends who helped shape his appreciation of the Montana outdoors. In 1999, as soon as he was old enough, he started guiding elk hunters for Mike Story with Story CCO as well as fishermen in Montana and in western Alaska. After several years of outfitting fishermen in Alaska, Zach knew that he missed the blue ribbon rivers and streams of Montana so has been fishing full-time in Montana ever since.

Westwind Guides specializes in guided Montana fly fishing trips. We operate on the Yellowstone, Boulder, Stillwater, Gallatin, Madison, Big Horn, and Missouri Rivers and their tributaries. We are permitted by the Montana FWP and BLM to operate commercially on the Madison River and by the National Park Service to operate in Yellowstone National Park. We also are authorized to operate on the Paradise Valley Spring Creeks and multiple other private waters. Our team of outfitters and guides are patient, courteous professionals with years of experience on all the waters we fish. We fish the large rivers of the area with modern drift boats and big water skiffs. We fish the smaller technical rivers with customized fishing rafts. The WWG team excels at all aspects of guiding from teaching the novice angler to enhancing an expert‘s skills. Zach Pleshar is WWG’s Licensed Montana Outfitter # 14818.
